The WORTH Plan: In the fall of 2021, the Richmond region was selected as one of 15 U.S. communities invited to develop a regional plan to identify barriers and catalyze homeownership opportunities for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Local Initiatives Support Coalition (LISC) led a diverse collaboration of nonprofit partners to create the Wealth Opportunities Restored through Homeownership (WORTH) plan, laying out a framework for identifying and addressing racial disparities in homeownership within the region and recommends strategies for dismantling barriers and addressing long-standing discriminatory practices that have resulted in homeownership disparities. This session will go over the data, strategies, and outcomes of the WORTH Plan and how it could be replicated in communities across Virginia.
