๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ September Updates

Theseus75 in e-pink.

Hi all,

As promised, I want to begin sharing monthly email updates on the Theseus75 mechanical keyboard with you, as well as offer another means to stay up-to-date with projects in the works. I know: it's the last day of the month, but this still counts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

September Updates

Theseus75

  • Rev7 prototypes are in! (Yes, there have been at least seven major revisions to this thing.) Since switching CNC manufacturers, I have been very pleased with the quality and the finish of the frames. For this round, I wanted to sample the remaining electrophoretic finishes in the line-up: "e-pink" (Aphrodite) and "e-yellow" (Helios). There are more than a few keycap sets I would love to pair these with, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to showcase some iconic Biip caps.

I've enjoyed MT3 Operator. And color-matching. ๐ŸŸฃ ๐Ÿ”ต
  • Apart from the colorways, these protos possess a few key upgrades from the previous design: the new mounting system/plate grommets, friction-fit silicone feet, a sturdier polycarbonate base, thicker/stronger magnets, black-core FR4 plates, and a raised bottom edge to allow for better underglow diffusion and a better grip when picking it up. The knobs also make use of a custom friction-fit mount to hide the set screw and allow for easy swapping.

  • Thanks to @ebastler's tireless work, the latest PCB revision has been sent off and production should start next week! This iteration includes several notable improvements from v1, with โšก๏ธ USB-PD-compliant charging โšก๏ธ (no small feat!), upgraded Molex connectors, more robust ESD protection, VBUS detection, faster boot-up, and plenty of other quality-of-life enhancements. Feel free to come chat in our Discord server if you want to dive further into the technical deets.

  • If you attended today's ClackyCon meetup in Amsterdam, you may have seen the Theseus make a guest appearance, courtesy of our friends at Keygem. If you got a chance to try it out or take pictures, I'd love to see and hear about it!

  • Speaking of meetups, I'll be planning to attend the DC + MD + VA Mechanical Keyboard Meetup next weekendโ€”if you're in the area and you'd like to see these two boards in action, come on by!

What's next

  • With the frame design all but finalized, I'll be ordering carrying case samples next week and working out the logistics for the remaining accessories (such as assembly hardware and tools) and collaborations I have in the works. I look forward to announcing them in the coming weeks as they are finalized!

As always, I genuinely appreciate your continued interest and support in this project. Until next month!
