π£ Project Updates (and Intro)
π Hey there,
I'm Alex. Whether you saw it once in passing, or have been eagerly following along, you recently came across the split mechanical keyboard of your dreams that I've been working on: the Theseus75. So first things first: thanks for taking the time to share your interest!
If you follow my Instagram account or have joined the Discord server, you've probably seen the latest updates on the projectβhowever, for those of you that don't partake in those platforms, I wanted to make sure you still had a way to stay in-the-knowβso I'm putting together a monthly email newsletter. (Don't worry: if email isn't your thing, you can unsubscribe below.)

ICYMI: all vendors for the project have been announced, with the latest addition to team being MOKB Store as the Vietnam proxy. Head over to the Geekhack page to see the full list.

The Theseus75 made a guest appearance at Actuated '23 this month, the Mechanical Keyboard meetup in Melbourne, courtesy of ALL CAPS. π If you attended and nabbed some photos, share with the class! Oh: and if you're in the EU and headed to Clackycon next month, you may just see it pop up there too. π€«

Parts for the latest prototype are slowly but surely coming in. π€ This time of year is seemingly a busy one for manufacturers, so I have been trying to stay busy with things myself (like this newsletter) while I wait. Most notably, I received the new plates and gaskets this month...and they. are. flexy. Of course, they'll need to be properly tested after the PCB is attached and the board is fully assembled (which should balance out the feel), but I'm pretty happy with them so far.

You asked, and I listened: I have been looking into limited edition split colorways. β¨ [Picture the Shia LeBeouf magic gif here.] Although this won't be part of the international GB run, I am discussing a collab with a reputable, US-based CNC shop to refinish a small portion of the GB extras with one-of-a-kind designs and patinas. Speaking of new colorways, I am also planning to pair different knob colors with each of the base kits, such as Rainbow PVD, Black, Rose Gold, and Gold, all with matching LEMO-compatible connectors. More to come. π
- In the meantime, I would love to hear what you think: if you have a suggestion or recommendation for a bespoke color combo, I'll be opening a thread over in the Discord server for folks to share (or, ya know, you can just shoot me an email too). Can't wait to hear what you all come up with!
That's it for now. If you have thoughts about this format, or want to see more in these newsletters, let me know. Thanks!
