Theseus75 GB Announcement
Details about the Theseus75 group buy.
Hi folks — it's been a minute since the last formal update, so I wanted to take time to post a proper announcement for the Theseus75 Group Buy.
As cliché as it might sound, this process has truly been a journey—one filled with late nights and countless hours of cortisol and uncertainty. 😰 As I'm sure the veterans here already know, running a Group Buy is no small task. Not only is there a metric ton of logistics and coordination required in addition to everything it took to design a board, but the sheer stress that also has you asking yourself "do people even like this? Will they actually buy it? Do I really need both my kidneys?" can take a substantial toll. In the first week or two of orders, I honestly wasn't sure if the project would even make the conservative MOQ I had planned for. "Down in the dumps" was an understatement. By the end, however, I was blown away.
The final numbers were more than triple what I had expected.
Just so there's no doubt: we
surpassedshattered the minimum order quantity for both the Theseus75 base kit AND the wrist rest! 🎉
I don't think I'm capable of crafting the words needed to express how grateful I am to you all. All those late nights and endless hours were only sustained because of the care, support, and excitement I felt from everyone involved. Seriously: thank you.
Next steps
Now that I've had a moment to rest, relax, and spend some much-needed time focusing on family, I'm back in the saddle and eager to see this project through production. 🙌 Just as before, I'll be sending monthly updates via email and in the Discord server so that you can follow along with the progress.
As for this month's progress:
- As you may have seen in Alexotos' build stream, we had a minor layout issue with the left mods on the latest version of the solder PCB (that's what I get for tinkering with KiCad myself instead of letting ebastler cook, smh) that needed to be fixed. A small batch with those fixes is currently in production as we speak, so that we can be 100% sure everything fits before mass production of the PCBs and plates begin. 👌 Interestingly, this fix resulted in a few additional improvements to the PCB overall:
- Clip-in stabilizers are now supported with all layout options and PCB versions
- An additional Tsangan layout will be available on the left solder PCB:
1.5 + 1 + 1.5 + 1 + 2.25
(i.e., reversed spacebar + function key) - Hot-swap will now support three 1u mods or two 1.5u mods on the right side (previously this was only available for solder PCBs)
- As for the rest of the parts, we're working through the final logistics now (plenty of vendors and manufacturers to coordinate with) and will update folks as production begins for each. Stay tuned!
Again: thank you all. I'm incredibly grateful for everyone that has followed along with and supported this project, and I'm very much looking forward to sharing more about the projects that are on the horizon. 🫶
Best,
Alex
