November Updates
(I know, I know: it's not November anymore. But better late than never!)
Man, this month was a busy one—but it was also an exciting one. If you've stopped by the Discord server recently, you may have seen the shot of a fully-functional Theseus75 in action. 😱 That's right: PCBs have arrived and things worked. That might not sound like a huge deal for most keyboards, but don't forget this board sports USB hubs on each half. That is no small feat, and I can't give @ebastler enough praise for the work he's done to get the project to this point. 🙌

With that said, there are a couple things to iron out before we're 100% comfortable with the design:
- At the moment, we've noticed that some of the more power-hungry peripherals don't always get the juice they need (which has been one of the challenges with power delivery over a split design: minimizing voltage drop across so many connections), so we're exploring a few different options to try and mitigate these issues.
- Although magnets were a recurring feature request in the interest check (and are just plain fun), I may have gone and made them a little too strong. 🤦♂️ It's a tough balance finding the right force to keep the halves together when on display, and preventing you from pulling the halves apart without damaging the finish. (As a side note, don't try to pick the entire board up by just one half... it won't go well. As I have found out.) 😬
- Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how the grommet mounts turned out—there are a few minor tweaks I'd like to make to the moulds, so updated samples are in production. Likewise, the carrying case samples (received those this month too!) came out decent—just need to make a few small changes to the EVA insert to ensure a snug fit.
As mentioned last month, I am currently projecting a Group Buy launch in Q1 of 2024—right around the corner! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated as that timeframe approaches and as dates are solidified. In the meantime, wishing you all safe and happy holidays in December! Until then. ✌️
