May Updates

Update your calendars, friends: the Group Buy date for the Theseus75 has moved! 😱

TL;DR: shifting GB dates by a few weeks while review units wrap up production.

How does the saying go? “April showers bring May delays?” Maybe not, but this month felt that way. 😮‍💨 While thankfully much of the project has stayed on-track during the prototyping phase, we did run into a minor logistical delay earlier this month that impacted the completion date for the Theseus75 review units. Rather than try and rush the GB launch, we decided that it would be better to just shift the dates by a few weeks, in order to give the reviewers ample time with the board (and to give you more opportunities to see it in action) before deciding to own one yourself. 💪

With the latest ETC for review unit production in mid-June, the Group Buy is currently scheduled for July 1-20. 🗓️ Stay tuned for stream dates, and keep an eye out for your local vendor’s landing page!

In the meantime, there is plenty to stay busy with from now until launch. All the ancillary parts for the reviews have been packaged, the build guide is in progress, and VoxelMods and @ecto have been hard at work on the custom cable and knob designs. I’m looking forward to unveiling them. ✨

Makes me think of a snack tray. No, you can’t eat the grommets.

One silver lining to this month’s delay is that it allowed me to squeeze in an improvement to the magnets: instead of using adhesive to bond a disc magnet directly to the frame (which would make any after-market anodization/refinishing difficult), I designed a custom ring magnet with reversible countersunk slots so that they can be properly fastened to either side with screws instead. This will also mitigate any potential QC issues that can occur when working with glue (which I had been dreading).

Lastly, the latest carrying cases should be delivered later tonight, so once they’re in, I’ll share photos in the Discord server—I’d love to get your feedback.

Although I typically publish these updates monthly, being so close to launch I plan to post smaller, more frequent updates in the server as they come; so if you’re reading this in an email, feel free to join on Discord for the most up-to-date info.

How does that other saying go? “Patience is the art of concealing your impatience?” Believe me, I can’t wait either. 💗 Thanks for waiting this long.

Alex
