π February Updates
Leap-year updates! πΈ With Lunar New Year celebrations wrapped and progress picking up, there's a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are the highlights from this past month:
TL;DR: updated IC form, new potential colorways, upgrading from Molex to ribbon cables in the latest PCB revision.
- Hot off today's press, @oh.type captured the absolute banger of a photo you see above, showcasing the Poseidon blue proto with GMK Panels. π Such a good shot!
- Earlier this month, I posted a final Interest Check over on r/mk showcasing two new potential colorwaysβDionysus (anodized violet) and Olympus (e-beige):

- Considering that there is already a sizable list of colors being offered (and adding to that list increases logistical complexity), the level of community interest will determine whether these are made available for the official group buy, whether they end up as limited-edition units, or whether they get produced altogether. So if you are interested and passionate about seeing these colors run, let me know in the IC form! (I'm accounting for updated/duplicate submissions, so no worries there.)
- As mentioned in last month's update, we are actively working though the latest PCB revision. One of the biggest challenges with this project has been supporting spec-compliant USB passthrough across a split board, which is especially tricky to do given the number of connections that are involved. With that in mind, the latest PCB iteration will use an FFC (a.k.a. "ribbon cable") to connect the daughterboards, and a Molex Pico EZmate HC (the big brother to the regular and "Plus" series Molex) to connect the LEMO ports to the main PCBs. This change should help mitigate voltage drop and ensure power-hungry peripherals are getting the juice they need. If all goes well, we should be able to prototype these changes relatively quickly so that we can confirm the final design before moving forward into the Group Buy phase. π€
As always, I genuinely appreciate your interest in this project; wouldn't be here without you! π«‘
Soon,
Alex
