June(-ish) Updates

Technically, it's July, I know. 📅

TL;DR:
  • The limited edition "Midas" raffle has closed. (Congrats @8bitderp!) 🎉
  • Shipment from the supplier has been delayed by a few weeks due to a minor QC issue; affected units are already being reworked.
  • The official QMK pull request has been submitted and is under review.

I know, I know—it's technically July. June was a busy one, so this update is a bit late—but as always, I sincerely appreciate how supportive and patient you all have been, not just these past few weeks, but throughout this whole journey.

"Midas" Raffle 👑

Last month we kicked off a raffle for the "Midas" Theseus75: a limited-edition colorway with a few extra golden goodies. The response was incredible—nearly 100 people participated in this paid raffle, which is honestly way more than I expected. Congrats again to the winner, @8bitderp! Can't wait to see photos of the board in action.

Theseus75 Production ⚙️

If you've been on Discord recently, you may have seen my note about the QC delay—but for those who haven't: last week, our supplier informed us of a minor quality control issue that was identified during assembly. On about 15% of units, there were small-but-noticeable inconsistencies between the chamfer sizes on the left and right halves of the board, which were observed only after matching the finished halves together. According to the supplier, however, those units have since been repaired and are currently undergoing re-anodization, which is expected to be completed within the next 2–3 weeks.

As frustrating as these setbacks can be, I remain grateful that production has been relatively smooth thus far—especially considering the complexity that comes with a split design. And while I'm thankful that this issue was caught before anything shipped, it's also reassuring to remember that along with factory-level QC, your local vendor should be inspecting each unit as well before it ships to you—and for folks in the US, I'll be taking a trip to Dangkeebs HQ when the time comes to help with that directly. So whether it's me or your regional proxy that performs the final pass, know that I'll be doing everything I can to ensure your board is held to the standard I expect.

Firmware Development 🤖

While each PCB will ship pre-flashed and ready to use, it's important that the underlying firmware—built upon the open-source QMK project—is accessible to everyone. A pull request has been submitted to add the Theseus75 keyboard and keymaps to the official QMK firmware repository, which is currently undergoing the review process. Once approved and merged, the board will be available in QMK Configurator and its firmware will be kept up-to-date with the latest QMK developments. You can follow along on its progress here.

That's it for this month (and a half). Don't forget to follow along on the Notion tracker for continued updates on Theseus75 production and fulfillment, and as always, feel free to reach out via email or on Discord if you have any questions or feedback. Thanks all. ✌️

Best,
Alex
