Join the HAVAC Board!
Hi everyone,
As we near the end of the semester with one last weekly session to go, we want to thank you for being a part of HAVAC. Launching a club in the spring is tough. A club about startups, tougher. But like startups, we decided to launch anyway and iterate, and the response from the community has been greater than anything we could've imagined.
In our first semester, we:
Brought back 7 alumni founders/operators, from YC-backed startups like Hyperspell to public companies like CoreWeave & MSNBC
Visited Adaptive Security in Manhattan
Ran 7 weekly sessions covering first idea to first customer, plus 1 live vibe-coding workshop
Partnered with Dorm Room Fund and Ford Ventures
5+ student projects shipped/in progress
We've constantly tried new things, received feedback, and redesigned our sessions around it. But we fell short this semester too. We'd planned another vibe-coding workshop and field trip, wanted to bring more alums to weekly sessions, and wanted more polished social media content. The following roles exist because of those gaps. Help us close them.
Join the team next fall. We're recruiting for two roles to help grow HAVAC:
Head of Operations
You'll work with Fahim to run HAVAC.
This is the behind-the-scenes work that makes everything else possible — managing communications and PR (like this email), coordinating with Student Engagement and Shayna Nickel for catering at fireside chats or vans for field trips, and keeping the logistics tight week to week.
Head of Growth
You'll create real content, long-form and short-form. You can recruit team members as you see fit.
This semester, we received numerous requests to record our fireside chats, but just didn't have the bandwidth. Next fall, we want to host more fireside chats and turn them into long-form podcasts for our socials.
We also explored short-form content for Instagram & LinkedIn. Ideas like "Build an App in 10 Minutes Challenge" and "Working at a Startup: Expectation vs. Reality" lived and died in the board group chat.
Do better than us. Beyond that, design posters, thumbnails, the usual.
Needless to say, everything should be polished, well-edited, and unique. HAVAC doesn't have a brand style yet. You'll create it.
