“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples."
~ Mother Teresa
At Happy Life Mission, our vision is to equip children and local youth with valuable skills for self-sufficiency through holistic Christian education. That’s why we established the Happy Life Vocational Institute, where young men and women can learn a trade that prepares them for the workforce and empowers them to build a better future.
As a result of a Happy Life USA bookkeeping system change, the donation statements are delayed. We anticipate that they will be sent to you by February 17. We appreciate your support of Happy Life Mission. Thank you for your patience.
The next addition of Happy Happenings will be coming to you soon!
As we step into this new year, our hearts are full of gratitude for the Lord's unending goodness. So much can happen in a year, and the busyness of life often makes it easy to overlook the blessings around us.
Today, we take a moment to reflect on the journey so far, and it's clear there is so much to thank God for. Here's to a hopeful and blessed year ahead!

Wishing you a Christmas filled with love, joy, and peace!
As we reflect on the past year, our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude for your unwavering support of Happy Life Mission. Your generosity and kindness have been a source of hope and inspiration, transforming countless lives.
Through your partnership, we’ve seen children smile brighter, families restored, and communities strengthened. You’ve been a vital part of our journey, making it possible to provide love, care, and opportunities to our children and even to the local community around us. Your prayers, time, and resources have truly made a difference.
Reflecting on 22 remarkable years of Happy Life Mission, we are grateful for the support and partnership that have made this journey possible.
We hold onto the promise in Philippians 1:6:
"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
We are pleased to share our latest newsletter, highlighting the milestones we’ve achieved together and the dreams we continue to strive toward. Thank you for being an integral part of this journey and mission.
With grateful hearts, we’re thrilled to share a monumental moment at Happy Life Mission: we’ve now rescued 1,000 precious lives since we began in 2002! Each child represents a story of hope and transformation, and this milestone couldn’t have been reached without the dedication of faithful partners like you.
During our six year journey of providing healthcare to our growing communities, we have become increasingly aware that there are still so many low to middle-level income households that don’t have easy access to quality and affordable care. This is not just in our Roysambu area but the greater Nairobi and by extension the whole country. There is a vibrant and rapidly expanding population in Kenya that lack the resources to access proper and timely diagnosis and treatment. In Kasarani itself there is a dense population and growing number of households with children, young adults and even the elderly who may not afford to seek treatment in the well equipped facilities within the city. The nearby healthcare facilities are not just overcrowded; they are also unable to offer specialised and critical care. Most residents in Kasarani have therefore suffered due to long waiting time, overcrowded facilities, lack of proper patient follow up, etc. leading to high morbidity and mortality rates. The construction of the new Jesse Kay Hospital in Mirema is not just timely — its establishment here is essential! While our current facility at the Roysambu Center has helped us serve the community, we have maximised the space we have, and yet there is still demand for more space to offer the kind of quality care we desire for our patients.
Once the new hospital is completed we will be able to provide sufficient space for accident and emergency care, general outpatient services, to include consultation, antenatal care, child wellness clinics, comprehensive care clinics, optical and dental care and much more. We will also have bigger capacity for inpatient care to include the ever-growing maternity department, surgical, medical wards as well as paediatric wards. We will also be able to establish specialised clinics - ENT, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, physiotherapy, neurology and oncology, among others. Our hope is that in the future we can expand our diagnostics department to include MRI, CT-Scan, Echo-cardiogram in addition to the current X-ray, ultrasound and ECG equipment that we have.
We also hope to have a specialised laboratory that is missing in the whole Kasarani area forcing us to frequently seek the services of reference labs in the city. Considering the space in the new facility we are excited that we will be able to expand our services to include specialised surgical rooms to help us provide colonoscopy, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgeries, neural and advanced orthopedic surgeries as well as critical care (NICU, HDU and ICU). Once the new facility is complete we intend to use our current hospital at Roysambu for Dialysis, which is in demand and yet no facility around us offers it. We will also have space for training of Nurse Assistants and much more, as well as accommodation for the volunteer groups that come to Happy Life and Jesse Kay Hospital. Our mission with this new branch is to bring healthcare closer to the people and make it affordable and excellent. We are not merely building a hospital; we are creating a lifeline for the residents of Nairobi and beyond, ensuring that families can access quality care right at their doorstep. Our focus on early diagnosis and treatment means that conditions like pneumonia, which have claimed lives due to delays in care, can now be diagnosed and treated swiftly. But beyond healthcare, this project represents economic empowerment for the community. By creating jobs for construction workers, health professionals, suppliers, and various other roles, we are helping to uplift families and strengthen the local economy. Jesse Kay Hospital is not just about health; it’s about hope, dignity, and a better quality of life for everyone in this area. We foresee the facility becoming a practical training ground for other Health Science colleges. Together, we are making Kenya healthier, stronger, and more resilient. We look forward to bridging the gap in the healthcare needs of our community, something which has become the hallmark of Jesse Kay Hospital.
Sincerely, Peter Ndungu & Jesse Kay Team Jesse Kay Hospital- Kenya
One thing that is constant in life is change and we love to embrace some change in all aspects of Happy Life Mission! We recently had the ground breaking for the construction of a multipurpose hall at Faith Premier High School.
The hall in use during a Sunday Service
Currently we have been using a makeshift hall and kitchen where they use firewood to cook and this hall will enable us to have a nice modern kitchen to make the students’ meals.
Caring for the abandoned children of Kenya since 2002
We are always thankful when God uses us to be His hands and feet to provide for abandoned children in Kenya. We continue to provide safe haven and love to so many precious babies. Since January 2024 we have rescued 34 children. This number has brought our rescues to 993 since inception in 2002. The task at hand is never easy as we strive to provide the best care to these children but with the help of such faithful partners like you, we are able to keep moving forward. As we have said before, we may not be able to change the whole world, but we are changing the whole world for one child at a time. Please meet below some of the newest rescues of Happy Life Mission.
June 29th was a special day at the Happy Life Mission, as we planted close to 10,000 trees at our Faith Premier High School. We were excited to be part of the efforts by our government and other well-meaning organizations, to plant a million trees in Kenya, in an effort to improve our environment.

The students planted trees, making the lessons they learn in class practical. They each adopted several trees to care for.
Sharing one’s time, as well as resources, to give the children of Happy Life a better life has been proven to be a priceless blessing to both the children and the partners who are able to visit. In partnering with us to support them, age is just a number! If ever you thought you’re too young or too old to serve others, then Betsy should be your inspiration today!
Wilmington Christian School’s Mission Trip to Happy Life!
It's been truly wonderful to welcome numerous volunteer groups who generously dedicate their time and effort to support our mission. Most recently, we were thrilled to host a delightful group of students and staff from Wilmington Christian School. Their presence brought joy and their assistance was invaluable, making their time with us incredibly enjoyable!
This marked the second visit from the school's team, and their return sparked tremendous excitement among our children. They relish the opportunity to engage with peers their own age, sharing in diverse life experiences and forging meaningful connections. After all, what child wouldn't treasure the chance to bond with fellow young men and women?
Hello to all who have an interest in Happy Life Mission and the people of Kenya. Please excuse the second email regarding the flooding in Kenya. Mark and I are learning all the tasks of the founding US directors of Happy Life Mission. As you probably noticed we have started to use Buttondown as our email and newsletter media tool. I did not attach the video to the first email regarding the flooding in Kenya. It can be viewed below.
Please visit our website at Happylifemission.org if God is leading you to aid the people of Kenya through the work of Happy Life Mission and Overcoming Faith Church in Nairobi.
There has been a lot of rain during the previous two weeks of April, which has caused severe flooding around the nation. Homes have been wrecked, roads have turned into waterways, and sewers and rivers have overflowed.
Homes have been literally immersed in water
More than 200,000 people have been displaced, property, infrastructure, and livelihoods have been devastated nationwide, and socioeconomic vulnerabilities have been made worse by the floods, which have also claimed at least 170 lives.
