Happy New Year. Or rather, happy new year according to some. Time is a dimension; calendars are a social construct; I’m not trying to be annoying or overuse semicolons. A few of us read two different calendars to figure out what day it is.
I mean this literally.
This is why I have asked everyone I know for new year predictions. The best thing I heard was that "this is the year we figure out that hindsight is 2020".
2020: Hindsight 2020
It's a reliable theme for the new year. Not too lofty. It acknowledges that we've made mistakes in the past and now we can look back and see clearly. Or with one eye of clarity, if you are like me and have myopia.
My Read: The stars have aligned just in time for the Gregorian new year. Hindsight 2020, thus, is an opportunity to dig deep and seek to understand your pasts. You will understand where you going when you figure out where you've been and why. Start by finding an astrology chart from this time last year and also from four years ago. It will be a leap year. It all makes sense looking backward.
You are more likely to believe a prediction if you think it was crafted just for you.
This is an example of confirmation bias. By the way, I did write this letter for you. Do you believe it?
There is always the option to turn to algorithmically generated astrology if you don't. I lasted three days on Co—Star,
an application that creates "hyper-personalized, real time horoscopes" by using NASA data. The horoscopes on Costar make no sense, even more than other horoscopes make no sense. I strongly don't recommend you use it. I mean it, don't go download Costar now just to see what it is.
Instead consider if you can not believe in astrology but still find it meaningful.
"Astrology itself, as a system of attraction, is only a metaphor for life. It doesn't need belief - it only requires participation. It's through metaphor that things which happen a minute scale are related to the grander cosmos. Like other cultural practices, such as mathematics, language, and art, astrology simply gives us permission to get carried away in spontaneous play with the synchronicities between our bodies, its perceptions, and the great beyond. There are as many astrologies as there are cultures. These astrologies sometimes confirm each other but more often contradict each other..."

This will all make sense very soon.
