SEPT 2025 - Go-Man on Tour!

We made it through the summer! I don’t know about wherever you’re reading this, but autumn has hit the UK like a breeze block through the window. Rain, leaves, chill - and I kind of love it. As much as I love Summer, I’m a spooky boy deep down and I’m counting down the days until I can read ghost stories by the fire.

Here are the headlines:

  • GO-MAN is Out Now!

  • GO-MAN Launch Summary!

  • GO-MAN on Tour!

  • Podcast Appearances

  • Dedication to John J. Johnston

GO-MAN IS OUT NOW!

The big news is that GO-MAN: CHAMPION OF EARTH is out now! I hope those of you who have a copy are enjoying it and those who have yet to buy one find a way to do so. I am so proud of it and excited for the story of Tobi, Grace and Okidoki to develop!

You can buy GO-MAN from anywhere books are sold and if your local comic store doesn’t have a copy, please ask them to buy some in! It helps more than you realise and I really think this book is gonna sell well when it’s actually in stores - I’ve seen the cover spark something in kids when they see it!

GO-MAN LAUNCH SUMMARY!

Last week I did two launch events for the book, one in the UK and one online.

And who attended but Go-Man himself!? I have been working on this outfit in secret for a few weeks and it turned out really well! Much better photos have been promised to me by Gosh! so I will include them in the next newsletter if they show up but it was such a fun event and the costume went down a treat (even if nobody could hear me when I was wearing the head!)

However, I also did a digital launch in partnership with Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego and the event can still be watched via the link below! In the conversation I talk about the book’s influences, my thoughts on autism representation and we even design a monster together who will be included in Volume 2!

GO-MAN ON TOUR!

But those aren’t the only events planned to launch the book - I will also be attending all the Travelling Man stores in a couple of weeks! Come and find me at the following stores and times!

On Saturday 20th September, I will be at:

The Manchester Travelling Man at 11am until 1pm

The Leeds Travelling Man at 3.30pm until 5.30pm

And on Sunday 21st September, I will be at:

The Newcastle Travelling Man at 11am until 12.30pm

And the York Travelling Man from 3,30pm until 5pm

In addition, I will be attending MCM London Comic Con from the 24th to the 26th October

And Thought Bubble Festival in Harrogate on the 15th and 16th November.

Those two events are ticketed so make sure you get your tickets now to avoid disappointment.

PODCAST APPEARANCES

If you’d like to hear me talk even more about Go-Man in a slightly more spoilery way (after reading the book!), I was guest once again on Kaiju ComicCast where we get into the real nitty gritty on some of the themes and characters! Listen below or wherever you get your podcasts:

And you can catch me every Monday on my own podcast Super Mario Moment! Since last newsletter, we’ve had tons of great guests and conversations so catch up now if Mario and gaming are your jam!

DEDICATION TO JOHN J. JOHNSTON

Finally, I wanted to round out this update by paying tribute to John J. Johnston who passed away this week. If you have a copy of my first book Pantheon, he contributed the foreword, as a leading voice in Egyptology.

John somehow got hold of the original self-published version of of the book and became its greatest advocate. Having an Egyptologist and author of such acclaim champion your work was extremely validating for a fresh artist like myself. He invited me to talk about the book at the Petrie Museum among a lineup of acclaimed authors and historians and nothing boosted my confidence more. In turn, I invited him to write an introduction for the Nobrow edition and he continued to recommend my work (Pantheon and otherwise) til the end.

I was thinking of him this week while at the Go-Man signing at Gosh!, as it was the first of my Gosh! signings he hadn't attended. I knew he had just moved to Scotland with his lovely husband but little did I know what had happened. We had been emailing this summer as I was hoping to get Pantheon back in print, a 10th anniversary edition or something, and he was keen to review the book and update his introduction or suggest more myths to include. If that edition ever happens, it will be dedicated to his memory.

He was kindest, wisest, funniest and most supportive soul. My thoughts go to his husband John and the rest of his family and friends. His husband has asked those who knew him to raise a glass!

Thank you!

Finally, just a huge thank you for all the support over the years and especially in the launch week of Go-Man! I really do hope you enjoy it and if it isn’t your jam, I promise I’ve got lots of other fun and exciting projects on their way. Until next time!
