Pastor Anna here: I was asked to share the quote from Luther which I read during our Reformation Sunday service. The quote is:

“This life, therefore, is not righteousness but growth in righteousness, not health, but healing, not being but becoming, not rest but exercise. We are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it. The process is not finished, but it is actively going on. This is not the end, but it is the right road.  At present, everything does not gleam and sparkle, but everything is being cleansed.”

This comes from Luther’s comments on Matthew 13:33, where Luther compares the work of the Spirit to leavening in bread; the new leaven of the Spirit works slowly and gently within us, to make us “new bread of God.”

• Time Change! Don’t be early for church, we fall back one hour as Daylight Saving Time ends.

• Sunday, November 2, we will celebrate All Saints Sunday. During the service, we will be reading aloud the names of members, friends, and others who are dear to you, who have died in the past year, since last All Saints Sunday (November 3, 2024).

• You are invited to bring photos of loved ones who have entered into the great cloud of witnesses, to display in the sanctuary during the worship service. If you are worshiping at home, you are invited to display these photos near your screen as you join in on Zoom.

• Worship service followed by fellowship time, refreshments, and Sunday School.
