Update from Good Shepherd, October 21, 2025

Pastor Anna here: THANK YOU, Good Shepherd, for the kind remembrance of me for Pastor Appreciation Day, and your generous gift. One of the things I value about the Lutheran church is its hewing to an ancient view of ordination; that one is not ordained until one is called to serve in ministry with a specific congregation. That tie of pastor with a worshiping and ministering community has deep theological resonance, including the idea that we work together; that the call is not just to, or about, or for, one person; but that the call includes a whole community. I thank God for you all, and I appreciate YOUR callings, work, and ministry.

THIS Sunday:

  • We celebrate Reformation Sunday THIS Sunday, October 26! Wear something red! šŸ˜€

  • Worship service followed by fellowship time, refreshments, and Sunday School

  • Frank ā€˜N’ Soup help needed: Please see sign-up sheets in the narthex and volunteer for an hour at a serving station, as a runner for resupplying service stations, or to help with the coat drive

NEXT Sunday - All Saints Sunday:

  • Sunday, November 2, we will celebrate All Saints Sunday. During the service, we will be reading aloud the names of members, friends, and others who are dear to you, who have died in the past year, since last All Saints Sunday (November 3, 2024). Please add their names to the sign-up sheet in the narthex.

  • You are invited to bring photos of loved ones who have entered into the great cloud of witnesses, to display in the sanctuary during the worship service. If you are worshiping at home, you are invited to display these photos near your screen as you join in on Zoom.

Mark Your Calendars:

  • Frank ā€˜N’ Soup, Friday, October 31, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

  • All Saints Sunday worship service, Sunday, November 2

  • Red Cross Blood Drive - Thursday, November 6
