Game Dev Blog #3 - Project Lion

Hello, and welcome to another edition of the Grundislav Games Dispatch!

I wanted to wait until a little later in the month to write this, because there were a couple of things I wanted to include that were somewhat time-sensitive. But now I can report on them so let’s get to it!

Project Lion

Status

I’m pleased to report that I’ve managed to achieve my goal…sort of. You may recall I intended to have the entire game’s design completed by the end of June.

Well, the game’s design is currently complete, except for the final chapter (the game has a prologue and 7 chapters.)

However, the chapter’s basic outline is done, I just need to flesh it out with the final details, and there are still 6 days left in the month, so I’m going to pre-emptively declare this a win. I’ll confirm whether or not I succeeded in next month’s newsletter.

What’s New?

Since last month, aside from design, I’ve also been continuing my work on background art for the first chapter. Here’s a new piece for you to look at:

People used to picnic in cemeteries, you know

You might be wondering why the headstone on the right is blank. Because spoilers, that’s why!

An Announcement…soon?

Since I started working on this project I’ve been keeping the details close to my chest, and vowed I wasn’t going to make any announcements about what the game actually was until I had gone a considerable way into production.

This is still true.

However, depending on some information I’ll hopefully be getting by the end of next month, there’s a possibility I might be making an official announcement and launching a Steam page near the end of this year. Stay tuned…

Other News

  • I spoke at NarraScope on June 13th in Albany, NY. My talk is already up on YouTube! If you’re interested in hiring union voice actors for your indie games, give it a watch.

  • I’ve been invited to the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo this August. I’ve wanted to check it out for ages, and now I finally have the chance. I’ll post more details of what I’ll be up to next month.

  • The Steam Summer Sale starts tomorrow, June 25th. I’ll be posting about it repeatedly on social media. If you can help spread the word, it would be greatly appreciated, as historically the seasonal sales tend to be the worst-performing ones.

That’s it for this month! If this is your first time reading my newsletter, you can catch up on past issues right here.

See you in July!
