Dissent Doe :cupofcoffee:: "ICYMI: Yesterday, I reported on the arrest of a …" - Infosec Exchange
ICYMI: Yesterday, I reported on the arrest of a hacker who was described by Dutch law enforcement as being the prime suspect in a group of hackers responsible for a significant number of big hacks in the Netherlands and elsewhere. Most recently, he was known as "Umbreon" on the original BreachForums.
In future posts, we will hopefully address why the govt's diversion program that he had been through a few years ago didn't really help him get out of blackhat activities. And maybe after his trial and sentencing in October, I will be able to reveal more about some of his better known hacks and why some intel firms or analysts referred to him as an APT.
He's a complex young man -- super-talented as a blackhat, it seems, but also super-talented as a whitehat gainfully employed in cybersecurity and also a volunteer who donated tons of time to helping nonprofits and other entities secure themselves from vulnerabilities.
Read the first part of what will be a series of posts at:
"I had been chatting with a blackhat. They had been working with a whitehat. We were both dealing with the same person:"

fuck billionaires threatening fights filling lawsuits and doing whiny posts. they need to hire mercenaries, promise them ennobled fiefdoms, and lead assaults on enemy tech campuses, turn their bio hacking from life extension supplements to breeding Lazarus style warriors, etc

This week on the blog: For the July 4th week, I'm musing about why I think the current international system is less 'American hegemony' and more a coalition of status quo powers, of which the USA is the 'team captain.'https://t.co/RjByUXSZuu
