This is interesting. The TV hacking has escalated in Ukraine, a channel was hacked to play Russian propaganda. The group responsible , XakNet, has been linked by Mandiant to the Kremlin. Makes a lot of sense. They seem to have too much competence to be the typical hacktivist collective. This TV attack is a good example. They held a poll on Telegram to decide what to hack next. The targets were the richest men in Ukraine, and their companies. The important thing is that they announced before hand what they would be attacking before they did it.

US officials and allies have warned about attacks from XakNet and related groups.
Another interesting attack by the same group was about a month ago, when they attacked Odessa’s air raid alert system just prior to a missile attack on the city.
While we’re on the subject of XakNet doing cyber for the government:
I want to point out that there is plenty of cyber warfare going on in this supposedly non cyber conflict.
