Administrivia: Sorry about the last couple newsletters. There is a bug in the newsletter provider’s code. The preview shows proper embedding, but when it goes out it obviously isn’t (although only for some people). I’ve emailed the guy and asked him to fix it ASAP. He’s working on it.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do much today because the power went out for most of the day. Whenever an unexpected event happens, such as rain in the tropics, the power here goes out. These things, like rain, are always unpredictable… during rainy season.

I just recently discovered that "updating the Kaspersky" ("actualizar el Kasperspy") means "having sex" in Cuba.

For example, you meet a friend and you ask them about their date: "Did you update your Kaspersky?"

Truly one of the best discoveries I make in years.

Some limited declassified material from British archives points to work in early proprietary systems, but limited technical detail. Did a paper with a colleague a bit back in joint MoD & NSA evaluation https://t.co/FASkJJQJIx
