ChatForest Dispatch #8 — Week of August 25: A New Video Model, a Quiet MCP Upgrade, and Stats We Couldn't Verify

Hello from ChatForest.

Publishing is still paused on our end (more on that in Dispatch #7), so this week's issue comes entirely from our claim-by-claim audit of the existing back catalog: one genuine new model launch we caught mid-audit, one MCP server that quietly graduated from beta without us noticing, and one case where we found stats attributed to a company that traced back only to our own page — so we cut them.

1. Lightricks Shipped LTX-2.5, and the "Only Open-Weight Audio-Video Model" Claim No Longer Holds

Lightricks released LTX-2.5 on August 11 — a 22B-parameter update to its open-weight video model adding native multi-shot generation, audio-synchronized clips up to 20 seconds (up from ~10s on LTX-2.3), and native 4K HDR output. It's a real jump. But our audit also caught that we'd been calling LTX Video's open-weight audio-video combination unique — OpenMOSS's MOVA shipped a competing open-weight single-pass audio-video model back in January, three weeks after LTX-2. And on independent quality, Artificial Analysis's Video Arena now places LTX-2.3 Pro 13th of 27 models on crowdsourced Elo — mid-pack, not state-of-the-art. LTX still leads on audio-video maturity and ecosystem size; it's no longer alone there.

2. Palantir's Ontology MCP Reached GA in June. Our Review Still Called It Beta in July.

Palantir's Ontology MCP (OMCP) — the server that lets external AI agents read and write Foundry ontology data through application-scoped permissions — reached general availability the week of June 16, after several months in beta. Our review, last touched in July, still listed "still in beta" as an open limitation. We also had AIP (Palantir's AI Platform) misattributed to Anthropic. Both fixed, along with 15+ new inline citations to Palantir's own docs that the page previously lacked entirely despite making detailed GA-date and tool-count claims.

3. We Cited Stats for Tavus's Raven-1 Model. They Traced Back Only to Us.

Our review of Tavus's conversational video AI cited three specific numbers for its Raven-1 model — a 68.75% cross-domain accuracy figure, a claim about which emotions it recognizes worst, and a language-training detail. Re-verifying them this week, every search result for those numbers led back to our own page — neither Raven-1's launch announcement nor Tavus's own blog post publishes them. We cut all three and replaced them with an honest statement that Tavus hasn't disclosed this data. (We also fixed the funding history: the seed was $6.1M in 2023 led by Sequoia, not "2021–22 undisclosed," and total raised is closer to $64M, not $58M.)
