This weekend in Greenwich: cocktails and violin on the Bruce patio, a ferry to Island Beach for jazz, and Family Day in an Old Mill Road garden

Morning, Greenwich. It is a quiet, well-shaded stretch of July, the kind the town does well. There is a new evening series pairing violin with cocktails at the Bruce, a Sunday jazz concert that you reach by boat, and a Saturday family day set loose in a garden. Nothing here is loud, which is rather the point.

Best for families this weekend: Foundation House Family Day on Saturday, and the Bruce Museum's Dinosaur Discovery on Sunday afternoon.

Sips and Serenades at the Museum: Cocktails and Classical Violin at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive. A new one-hour series on the Bill and Fran Deutsch Family Patio, pairing handcrafted cocktails with classical violin from Kristen Young and Emma Maini. An hour outdoors with a good drink and live strings is a civilized way to start a Thursday evening. 4 to 5 PM, adults, ticketed. Details.

America at 250: A Celebration in Art is on view through August 31 at Coffee for Good, 48 Maple Avenue. Work by the Maggie Daly Arts Cooperative artists hangs in the cafe, with proceeds going back to the artists and the cooperative, so a coffee and a slow look both do some good. Open Monday through Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Free, all ages. Details.

The state will review a proposed demolition of the historic Tudor buildings on lower Greenwich Avenue. Greenwich Time reports the review adds a layer of scrutiny before anything comes down on the Avenue, where the streetscape is the asset. Source: Greenwich Time.

Foundation House Family Day at 124 Old Mill Road, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Free admission, no registration, and a garden turned over to sketching, nature bingo, a kiddie corner, and refreshments. Solemate Run Club meets at Beyond Yoga on Greenwich Avenue. A Saturday-morning group run at an easy, social pace, ending back where it started. Free, all levels; the ticket page has the meeting time. Details.

Jazz on the Sound: Dixieland Jazz Band at Island Beach, reached by the town ferry. Part of the Parks and Recreation summer concert series, and the most Greenwich way imaginable to hear a band: the ferry leaves the dock at 4 PM and returns at 6 PM, with the concert on the island in between. Park pass and ferry fees apply, and the rain date is July 26. All ages, outdoors. Details.

Family Day: Dinosaur Discovery at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive. A Sunday afternoon of hands-on dinosaur activities for the younger set, indoors and air-conditioned. Family-friendly, all ages. Details.

The Parks and Recreation summer series continues Wednesday, July 22, with Just Sixties, a run through the decade's hits at one of the town's concert greens. Free. Details.

The 2026 Local Love Awards Celebration is Wednesday, July 22, at 261 West Putnam Avenue, an evening recognizing the local businesses and people the town keeps coming back to. Ticketed. Details.
