Sylph Web

Hi friends,

Now that the weather is getting colder, I'm feeling ready to give you an update... this summer I was working on Sylph Web...

Sylph Web is a game you can play on your phone in the Anita-Berber Park here in Berlin.

When I first came to Berlin, I fell in love with the overgrown scruffy Anita-Berber Park..it's full of weeds and wildflowers and big dogs and alien signal towers from the old airport next door..it has a kind of magical garden of hell vibe...and I've always wanted to make something especially for it..

So this summer I made Sylph Web - it's sort of like a plant identification Schnitzeljagd (yes the German word for treasure hunt is "schnitzel hunt"). Basically you trample around the park and photograph weeds and wildflowers, and the game identifies them for you. Hidden inside some of these plants are sylphs, weird little creatures who inhabit the Anita-Berber Park.

It's a sunny autumn, so if you live in Europe you can still test the game out, even if you don't live near Anita-Berber Park. You might not be able to find the Sylphs as easily, but the plant identifying feature should work. I can't guarantee that it will work as well in other locations, but if you give it a test, let me know what you find out!

You can download the game for Android and iOS here.
