Violence, Type 1, and So. Many. Links.

alt text

Happy Thursday!

This is coming out early because Hank comes home tonight following surgery yesterday. Everything went incredibly well! Fingers crossed that the next 75 days of healing go just as well! 🤞🤞🤞

Ponderings

IDK, I just really miss Betty White sometimes:

6 panels from The Golden Girls 1) Rose asks "Subversive?" 2-4) A man says "As in, 'do you advocate the overthrow of the government by force or violence?'" 5) Rose looks puzzled 6) Rose, looking resolute, says "Violence."

Also, I don’t have the energy to unpack all that’s wrong here, but enjoy the creepy imagery:

Noah Averbach-Katz, who plays the Andorian Ryn (that blue fella^) in a short arc on Star Trek: Discovery, is a wonderful human. As a Type 1 Diabetic, he gets frustrated and annoyed at the lack of stories told about disabilities by those of us who have them. So, he’s changing that. He’s raising money for his first project, with fellow Discovery star (and wifey above^!) Mary Wiseman playing his wife and another fellow co-star directing - Anthony Rapp.

I need y’all to know that I legit cried watching the trailer. This is so needed, and I’m so excited.

Go back ‘Type 1: A Short Film about a Type 1 Diabetic and his wife on a search for insulin - before it's too late’ on Kickstarter.

It’s a total journalistic failure — not just of this particular journalist, but the media more generally — that this piece could never mention Long Covid, post exertional malaise, ME/ CFS, or that some people have lasting setbacks from too much exertion.
