Protecting Trans Kids in Texas, Racial Violence, and A Puppy Surgery
First, An Ask
Our Hank needs surgery.
The tldr of it is Hank ruptured one CCL… and then in favoring the other leg, ruptured that one. His surgery is scheduled for March 9th and is $2800 without the possibility of a payment plan.
We’ve already raised 37% of what we need for his surgery.

Trans in Texas
Greg Abbot has officially directed Family and Protective Services to begin investigating all trans children in Texas and prosecuting their parents as child abusers.
He has also instructed all teachers, doctors, and caregivers to begin reporting any trans students they see.
Here’s how you can help, even if it’s just sharing out this info.

Grieving Racial Violence in a Woke America: How Madison's hyper-wokeness is a violence unto its own by Rodlyn-mae Banting:
How do I grieve the brutal murder of Christina Yuna Lee when I am surrounded by a misdirected hypervigilance towards shows of racial progression with no actual follow through? How do I grieve when the white people I’m surrounded by are consumed with the theoretical assault of my body rather than its real and actualized forms? How do I negotiate my grief in a space when everyone around me is more concerned with the inflated sense of hypothetical danger that white woman might face instead of the actual dangers that women of color face daily? How do I even find a place to put my grief down in a space where white women mistake my moving shadow for an assailant trying to break into the apartment, but don’t even bat an eye when they hear news akin to Lee’s murder?
I know this is about Madison, but it describes so many spaces and places.
Target lifts mask mandate for employees and shoppers by Ivana Saric:
Target will no longer require employees or shoppers to wear masks indoors unless it's to comply with local regulations, the company announced in an update on its website Monday…
Target will continue to reserve time on Tuesdays for vulnerable or at-risk shoppers — such as pregnant women and the elderly — to do their shopping before stores open to the general public.
I’m really not sure how they think at-risk people are going to be safe given what we know from one-sided masking.
