Lesson Title: Total Make Over
For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:2-3
Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the LORD, “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown. Jeremiah 2:2
According to the above verses what does the Lord want His bride to have? The word is in both verses.
Write the meaning of the word.
What does Satan attempt to do with his cunning deception?
What are some ways in which a woman can show sincere and pure devotion to Christ?
Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:12-14
What godly character does God want you to “put on” daily?
But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. 1 Peter 3:3-6
Describe the disposition that Peter associated with godly womanhood.
Describe what a woman is like who has a quiet spirit?
Which aspect of a woman's disposition do you find to be the most challenging? Gentleness, quietness, amenability? Why?
Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
1 Timothy 2:9-11
How does a godly woman beautify themselves according to 1 Peter 3:3-6 and 1 Timothy 2:9-11?
Think about these statements. What type beauty is more attractive to you?
Getting a great hairstyle OR getting a gentle and quiet spirit
Dressing in nice clothes OR dressing in holiness
Showcasing my beauty OR showcasing Christ's beauty
Prettying up my face OR prettying up my face
Wanting to look good OR wanting to be and do good
Wanting a makeup artist to make me up OR wanting the Holy Spirit to make me over
