Lesson Title: Sisterhood is Powerful

In what sense is motherhood at the heart of womanhood? What are some of the implications of the saying that the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world?

He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD! Psalm 113:9

Explain how a childless woman might have a “household” and be the “joyful mother of children.”

Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother, who has been a mother to me as well. Romans 16:13

What does this verse tell us about Rufus's mother? How can we be this type of mother?

Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Colossians 1:10

Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. Romans 7:4

What is the main purpose of both biological and spiritual motherhood?

What opportunities has the Lord placed in your current life situation right now to “joyfully mother children”?

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27

and having a reputation for good works: if she has brought up children, has shown hospitality, has washed the feet of the saints, has cared for the afflicted, and has devoted herself to every good work. 1 Timothy 5:10

Why do you think God designed the woman the primary responsibility to manage the home?

What are some physical, emotional, and spiritual benefits an inviting home provides for those who live there?

How can the Biblical perspective on the home help women not fall into the trap of comparing or idolizing home magazines, HGTV shows, and even friend's homes?

Does God's design to be welcoming keepers of the home call for any adjustments in your heart or habits? Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. Titus 2:3-5

What happens when women aren't intentional about being Godly? The word of God may be....? What does that look like?

So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come. Psalm 71:18

How well are you passing Biblical Womanhood to the next generation?
