Women's Small Group Bible Study True Woman 101 - Week 6 Led by Christy Sheppard October 25, 2020 Lesson Title: Hear Me Roar
Can you think of examples of friends, teachers, curriculum, TV shows, books that have pushed feminist ideas on you? What is different from God's word and ways? Can you think of ways this has shaped your thinking?
Thinking back to the consequences of the fall, explain what is legitimate about the feminist claim that “patriarchy” (the rule of men) is responsible for the unhappiness of women.
Now explain how putting the blame on “male-rule” subtly undermines the Bible's teaching about God's divine design for man and woman.
Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32
See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled. Hebrews 12:15
For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. James 1:20
What's the problem with anger? List reasons why anger can be counterproductive according to these verses.
Are you angry at how a man has treated you? How does God want you to respond? How does the gospel motivate and enable that kind of response?
Read Proverbs 7:6-27.
What are some behaviors and characteristics of this “wild woman” that stick out?
What do these characteristics reveal about her heart?
Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol; She does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it. Proverbs 5:5-6
Why did this woman go astray?
What kind of influence/impact does she have on people? Husband, other men, other women, and her children?
Do you think women who have been influenced by the world's model for womanhood lack discernment?
Read Proverbs 8:1-21
Why should you chose this “wise lady” (Proverbs 8:6-11) over the “wild lady” in Proverbs 7:6-27?
But he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death. Proverbs 8:36
For wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her. Proverbs 8:11
What is the outcome if you fail to pursue the wisdom found in Christ?
But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. 1 Peter 3:4
How does the Lord feel about womanhood?
How do you need to adjust your attitude about womanhood so that it matches the Lord's?
Why do you think that as women have gained more education, more economic independence, more power, and more freedom that they have become less and less happy?
Why do you think the concept of true Biblical womanhood causes fear for some women?
Do you see areas where you need to adjust your attitude about womanhood to be more in line with how the Bible views it?
