"Expository Listening" study begins Sunday!
Church family,
Small groups resume this coming Sunday at 6PM when we will begin our study based on Ken Ramey’s book, Expository Listening.
In our first meeting, we’ll spend some time catching up, praying for any needs mentioned, and distribute the workbook we’ll use for the remainder of the study. You can also buy a copy of Pastor Ramey’s book here if you’d like. It’s not necessary, but might be helpful in diving deeper into the material. We’ll also have a few copies handy if you cannot afford to buy one.
In preparation for the study, consider the following questions that we’ll discuss in class this week, time permitting:
How do you currently prepare yourself to listen to a sermon?
Pastor Ramey suggests that the act of listening to a sermon is as crucial as the act of preaching that sermon. What responsibilities do you think listeners have, and how do those responsibilities impact their spiritual growth?
In what ways do you think the modern culture of media consumption affects our ability to engage in 'Expository Listening'? How can we overcome these challenges?
What practical steps can you take to ensure that you are not only hearing but also applying the teachings from sermons in your daily life?
