Bible Reading Plans
Church Family,
Last night, Pastor Chris mentioned the need for all of us to read our bibles regularly. I was reminded of a quote from Job, who said, "I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my portion of food," in Job 23:12b.
Sometimes, an organized Bible-reading plan can be a great help to get you going and keep you on track. Here is a helpful link from Ligonier Ministries that provides a long list of plans of all kinds from which you can find one that suits you:

Bible Reading Plans for 2023
R.C. Sproul reminded us that “Disciples of Christ abide in His Word. Those who abide in His Word know the truth and are free.” As you make plans for 2023, we in
One of those listed is the one that Patti and I follow, and we love it: Professor Grant Horner's Bible Reading System. I have attached two PDFs to this email, one of which describes the plan and has Professor Horner's original bookmarks, and the other contains another set of bookmarks that group the chapters of the Bible together a little differently...and that's the grouping Patti and I use.
I would be happy to discuss the reasons we enjoy the plan with you, and answer any questions you might have. To keep this email as short as possible, let me just mention that one thing I think you might appreciate about the plan is how adaptable it is to your reading comfort: it's designed to read 10 chapters a day, which you can do in however many sittings you prefer, but there is no reason you can't do only five chapters per day - or three, or two...or even just one, if that's what works for you. On the other end, you can do 20 per day or more if you want to do so! Anyway, please ask me about it if you'd like to know more. I love talking about it. Hint: ask me how it allows me to continually see the Scriptures commenting on themselves in new and exciting ways!
Finally - please remember what our Pastor instructed us last night: it's good and desirable to read the Bible regularly by following a plan, but PLEASE don't let it interfere with your study of what we are being taught Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings. Rather, use a plan (if you so choose) to supplement those things, not replace them. I'd be happy to explain that further, too.
Feel free to call me at 601.757.0929, or we can talk when we next meet.
See you soon, and happy reading!
