November 2022 - Starchildren, Alley Bats, and Being Stuck In Your Apartment
Hello everyone!
Unfortunately a bit of lean month this month in terms of "stuff I did that I want to highlight." However, December is already setting up to be to a real doozy so look forward to more stuff!
I wrote about Mario Galaxy for its 15th anniversary at GameSpot. Galaxy has such a lovely tone, sweet and aching, that's pretty unique in video games and extremely rare in Mario. It remains one of my favorites.
On Safe Room, we wrapped up our discussion of Silent Hill (for now) with Silent Hill 4: The Room. I think it is so great that the Silent Hill team, after making three of the most influential and beloved horror games ever, took a big formal swing for the fences.
In other stuff, I've been posting a little bit about stuff I like on Cohost, in a thing I've calling "So... What Have You Been Up To?" I've highlighted the work of historian Lady Izdihar and the webcomic Blind Alley. If you are interested in seeing more of that, you can follow me there!
I didn't manage to write an Angel Looking Backward this month, so I'm planning two for December. Plus, I'll be doing a year wrap up post on my blog, which I haven't done in almost three years! ALSO I have some other stuff on the burner. Sometimes the harvest is lean, sometimes it is rich.
If you want to support my work, and aren't already, you can subscribe to my Patreon or donate to my Ko-Fi.
Thank you all and I hope you have a kind and safe holiday season!
