Good Works Columbus: October 16, 2023
TWU community discussion, Poetry in the Park, and zoning feedback
Intro
Hi, happy Monday! Welcome to another issue of Good Works Columbus. If you have an upcoming event or a link you’d like to share for the newsletter, feel free to send suggestions. I’m sure that I’ve missed some things.
Things you can do online
In Case You Missed It
If you are a student, alumni, employee, community member, or any way related to The Ohio State University, please take this survey about bicycling on campus.
Starting today, every U.S. household can place an order to receive four more COVID-19 rapid tests directly delivered to you.
Take a survey to give feedback to the city of Columbus on its zoning update. The survey will ask you about building and housing preferences along the city’s main corridors as well as thoughts on parking minimums.
Mark up the Vision Zero Columbus map. Have a close call walking, biking, or getting around town? Do you know a dangerous intersection that can be improved? Help identify these spots on the Vision Zero map.
If you haven’t already, complete the City of Columbus Bike Plus Survey or share with a friend or neighbor. The City of Columbus has started the planning process to improve how we bike, scooter and skate – however you choose to roll – in Columbus. They’re calling the plan “Bike Plus” – and they need your help! (5 minutes)
Things to do in person
Support the Transport Workers Union of America Local 208 this Thursday at 5:30pm at their community discussion. If you can’t make it, follow them on socials @twu208.
This Friday, support our unhoused neighbors at Poetry in the Park featuring Hanif Abdurraqib and Zach Hannah. Tickets are free with a $5-$15 suggested donation. Please reserve a spot at the link so they know how many people will be there.
Offer feedback on Columbus’ zoning update this week at Howard Community Center in Northeast Columbus.
In Case You Missed It
Go get your flu and COVID-19 vaccines.
Last chance to pick up a tree on October 21 in Linden! Pick up a native tree to plant in your yard. Reservations are now with pickups in October.
Other Stuff
Have a great day everyone, until next time.
