Good Works Columbus: November 13, 2023
GV parking meeting, gourd drop off and blood drive
Intro
Hi everyone, happy Monday! If you have an upcoming event or a link you’d like to share for the newsletter, feel free to send suggestions. Please let me know if I missed something!
Things you can do online
Bike Plus is a plan by the City of Columbus to create a safe, connected and comfortable network for people to bike, scooter, skate and roll in the city. Through transportation improvements like protected bike lanes, trail connections and crosswalks, we can make it more convenient and enjoyable to get around Columbus without a car. This plan will identify where these improvements are most needed to connect community members to the places they need and want to go.
Use this online map to tell us where barriers need to be addressed to improve biking, scootering, skating and rolling for everyone in Columbus.
Daylight Saving Time has ended and the nights are getting longer. Help Columbus folks ride their bike more safely by sponsoring a set of bike lights for $14 per set.
In Case You Missed It
Take a survey to give feedback to the city of Columbus on its zoning update. The survey will ask you about building and housing preferences along the city’s main corridors as well as thoughts on parking minimums.
Mark up the Vision Zero Columbus map. Have a close call walking, biking, or getting around town? Do you know a dangerous intersection that can be improved? Help identify these spots on the Vision Zero map.
If you haven’t already, complete the City of Columbus Bike Plus Survey or share with a friend or neighbor. The City of Columbus has started the planning process to improve how we bike, scooter and skate – however you choose to roll – in Columbus. They’re calling the plan “Bike Plus” – and they need your help! (5 minutes)
Things to do in person
(Tuesday, November 14th) Divisions of Mobility and Parking Services has completed the parking study and community survey for German Village and the surrounding area. A public meeting will be held at the GV Society Meeting Haus from 6pm to 7:30pm to share the results. Discussion will also focus on opportunities to support safe pedestrian activity and biking in the neighborhood.
(Now until November 22nd) Help Ohio State beat Michigan in the annual Blood Battle. Donate blood at the blood drive on The Ohio State University campus and and beat the Wolverines.
(Dates and locations vary) Help keep your gourd out of the landfill by dropping off your pumpkins at a participating compost drop-off in your area.
No Transit Columbus meeting tomorrow. See you next month!
(7:00pm November 14th) Join Transit Columbus for a monthly meeting at the main library in downtown Columbus (meeting room 1A) to find out how you can improve Columbus’ public transit and make it more bike friendly.
Have a great day everyone, until next time.
