Hi everyone, happy Monday! Welcome to Good Works Columbus, a newsletter highlighting actions you can take at the local level to help improve our community. There’s a lot of scary stuff happening at the federal level right now, but remember, you have the power to make change, especially at the local level.

If you have an upcoming event or a link you’d like to share for the newsletter, feel free to send suggestions. And if you know someone who might enjoy Good Works Columbus, forward it to them and tell them to subscribe here and follow on Bluesky.

Things you can do online

  • (National) Stop the Trump administration from scrapping funding for pedestrian safety and walkable communities
The administration has frozen over $3 billion allocated to infrastructure projects that support walking and has threatened to eliminate key programs like Safe Streets and Roads for All and Reconnecting Communities entirely.

Tell Congress, and members of your state government, they need to stick up for the investments that make it easier for members of your community to walk with confidence through their neighborhoods.

  • Franklin County Innis Road, Cleveland Avenue to Westerville Road Improvements Project 🚲
Improvements include lane reduction from 4 to 3 lanes and new sidewalks and paint-only bike lanes. Comments are due by February 28th. Suggested improvements would be to include protection for the bike lanes. See this link for more information and comment form.

In Case You Missed It

  • LinkUS Engagement Survey (2 minutes)

We invite you to share your thoughts on LinkUS and public transportation's impact on your life and community. Your answers will be shared as part of a social media initiative to spread awareness about LinkUS and what it means for the Central Ohio region. Thank you for your participation!

  • Mark up the Vision Zero Columbus map. Have a close call walking, biking, or getting around town? Do you know a dangerous intersection that can be improved? Help identify these spots on the Vision Zero map.

Other Stuff

  • Things I’m Reading / Watching

    • Some Actions That Are Not Protesting or Voting

    • Columbus City Council candidate Tiara Ross' residency called into question by political blog from WOSU

    • Algorithms are breaking how we think from Technology Connections

      • A 38 minute video, but well worth it imo.

Have a great day everyone and see you next week!
