Intro
Hi everyone, welcome back! Hopefully you had a chance to check out one of the open street events over the weekend. I’ll be sure to highlight future open street events on here. They’re a great way to envision what life looks like when we prioritize people over cars.
Also, thank you to everyone that donated to fund bike lights. They have met their goal of 200 sets of bike lights for folks in Columbus!
If you have an upcoming event or a link you’d like to share for the newsletter, feel free to send suggestions. Please let me know if I missed something!
Things you can do online
Give feedback on the Eastland Community Plan.
"Creating an inclusive and equitable new chapter for Eastland requires a bold, long-term vision. This consists of a framework that centers around people, places, and opportunity. It is critical to identify the needs, challenges, and opportunities for all the stakeholders within the Eastland community, from housing to education to employment to history and culture.
To create a community-driven vision, this planning process will engage Eastland area stakeholders who live, work, worship, play, and learn in the community. This will ensure the Eastland Community Plan will be a successful roadmap to a bright future for everyone.”
Provide feedback to improve city parks. Three different parks are going through improvement plans right now with opportunities to provide feedback online or in person. The three city parks are Hauntz Park in Hilltop, Willow Creek Park in SW Columbus, and Gender Road Park in Canal Winchester.
Bike Plus is a plan by the City of Columbus to create a safe, connected and comfortable network for people to bike, scooter, skate and roll in the city. Through transportation improvements like protected bike lanes, trail connections and crosswalks, we can make it more convenient and enjoyable to get around Columbus without a car. This plan will identify where these improvements are most needed to connect community members to the places they need and want to go.
Use this online map to tell us where barriers need to be addressed to improve biking, scootering, skating and rolling for everyone in Columbus.
In Case You Missed It
Take a survey to give feedback to the city of Columbus on its zoning update. The survey will ask you about building and housing preferences along the city’s main corridors as well as thoughts on parking minimums.
Mark up the Vision Zero Columbus map. Have a close call walking, biking, or getting around town? Do you know a dangerous intersection that can be improved? Help identify these spots on the Vision Zero map.
