Get On Board NAO SANTA MARÍA 17–20 September 2026 | Kinsale Harbour 425 years after Don Juan del Águila and his Spanish forces landed in Kinsale in September 1601, the Spanish are returning to Kinsale — this time by sailing ship. Kinsale Cultural & Heritage Society, in conjunction with Fundación Nao Victoria and with the kind cooperation of Cork County Council, are delighted to welcome a Spanish sailing vessel to Kinsale from **17–20 September**. Discover what life was like at sea, explore the ship’s decks and imagine the journey made by Spanish forces who sailed into Kinsale more than four centuries ago. The vessel will be berthed in Kinsale Harbour and will be open to the public for tours, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into life aboard the type of Spanish sailing vessels that arrived in Kinsale in 1601. A replica of **Christopher Columbus’ flagship from his 1492 voyage**, the ship brings history to life and offers a unique opportunity to step aboard and experience the world of Spanish maritime exploration for yourself. **A remarkable piece of maritime history — returning to Kinsale.**
