Wow, I really only updated once in December? Not that all maybe six of you who read this were keeping track, but I did intend to be a bit more regular. Isn’t that the usual newsletter complaint?

First things first: If you didn’t catch my Fav Books post on IG for 2025, you can read my additional thoughts here.

But I also listened to a lot of Big Finish audio adventures this year! I absolutely count those towards my reading lists because most of them are plays, and we’d count a play if I read it as a book, yes? If I read a novella as an audiobook, it would be a similar length. While Doctor Who tends to be my main line of adventures from BF, I had some other favorites this year too. Once again, in no particular order (click through for more info), my Favorite Big Finish 2025:

• Doctor Who: War Stories (Twelfth Doctor + Bill - this is a freebie on the site, btw)

• Doctor Who: Snare (Ninth Doctor + Rose)

• Doctor Who: Dare You (Basically, do yourself a favor and get ANY of the Ninth Doctor audios. They’re all good. This one also features Rose and Jackie.)

• Survivors: New Dawn (Survivors was originally on TV in the 1970s, then briefly revived in the late ‘00s, but the Big Finish expansion of this world is outstanding.)

• Survivors: New Dawn 2 (I haven’t heard all the New Dawn line yet —there are four installments so far— but all the ones that came before were well worth the money.)

• Doctor Who: Most Wanted (If you wanted more from the Fugitive Doctor, played by Jo Martin, BF has you well covered.)

• Doctor Who: The Night Witches (Second Doctor + Jamie, Ben, and Polly. I’ve really enjoyed a lot of the Second Doctor offerings, especially since not all his TV episodes have survived. You can find this one for free via Spotify or wherever prefer to listen to podcasts.)

• Doctor Who: Infamy of the Zaross (Tenth Doctor + Rose. Another one that is available for free via the Into The TARDIS podcast.)

(Unfortunately?) I’ve spent entirely too much money on Big Finish, especially since they changed their pricing system to reflect the current US exchange rate. Prices fluctuated all through 2025, and mostly not for the better, but this is basically the one “extra” thing I spend on myself, so I suck it up and pay, though I do buy fewer titles than I used to. It’s not their fault the US is a shitshow right now. They are worth the money, but be forewarned. Still, there’s lots to be found for free, if you want to sample.

In other news: I gave a fun, short interview with the X-Files fan newsletter Sculder and Mully, talking about my history with (re)watching the show.

Coming soon will be a short writeup I did for another site about the fundraiser we (Electric City Creative) hosted to raise money for the Great Falls Public Library. I can’t remember when it publishes, but we raised $700! Woo! It’s easier than you might think to put together an event for a good cause.
