Six Centuries Ships & So Does How Comic Are Made
Hello, there!
As usual, it’s been a busy…everything. Summer is surprisingly slower, as the seeds of winter and spring become summer fruits and I prepare for the fall.
Six Centuries Shipping
You can now place a direct order for Six Centuries of Type & Printing for immediate shipping or download! All copies ordered in the Kickstarter and post-campaign phase ship this week, as do orders from a dedicated website. From that site, you can order the print/ebook bundle, the ebook only, or the audiobook only. (The audiobook is also an inexpensive add-on for the bundle and ebook.)

You can also download a sample of the new edition of Six Centuries and listen to a chapter of the audiobook.
How Comics Are Made
I had lovely time celebrating the release of How Comics Are Made, the new edition from Andrews McMeel Publishing, on June 3 at Ada’s Technical Books & Café, one of my favorite bookstores in Seattle—and the world. Local cartoonists and pals Brian Basset (Red & Rover) and Georgia Dunn (Breaking Cat News) joined me for presentations and chat. Amazing audience!

You can buy a copy worldwide, and there have been sightings in local bookstores! (If you spot one in the wild and feel like sending me a snapshot, I would love it.)
What’s Next?
I’m asked this question a lot, as I am a prolific creator. I helped Marcin Wichary bring Shift Happens into the world in 2023 (and into 2024); went directly from that into crowdfunding, producing, and shipping How Comics Were Made, then made the changes necessary for How Comics Are Made (the bookstore edition) right after shipping my edition, which took me into early 2025, to launch the second edition of Six Centuries of Type & Printing.
With the bulk of those books shipping next week, I no longer have long-running project that’s driving me forward. I started working with Marcin in 2018 on Shift Happens, began thinking about researching How Comics in 2022 (with roots back to 2017), and produced the first edition of Six Centuries in 2019–2020.
I have a client prepped to ship a book likely in early 2026, which may be the sole print title I work on in the next six-plus months, though there are a couple others waiting in the wings.
It may be time, in 2026, for me to plan and write FLONG, a book that brings together research of the last decade, only a relatively small portion of which made it into How Comics Were/Are Made.
Bits and Bobs
This summer, I’m revising or writing about nine Take Control Books as I take on a few books written by an author who has taken a different direction for his work and update my several titles. Apple made significant chanages to the interface across all its operating systems and the books need revision to reflect that new appearance among other changes. (Who knew that the Phone app would get such attention, at long last?)
You can find my Apple troubleshooting column every week now at Six Colors: “Help Me, Glenn!”
If you’re interested in nabbing one of the few remaining sets of four-color-separated Peanuts printing molds, act now—only 4 of the 25+ sets I had remain available.
Thanks for your ongoing interest!
