Alphabet Soup
Welcome to this month's installment of True to Glenn's Type! Thanks to everyone who backed Flong Time, No See. I already uncovered some new flong ground even during the book's crowdfunding campaign, and have leads on individuals connected to the history of flong production who I hope to interview.
If you missed the campaign, I have Late Pledges enabled on Kickstarter, a feature that lets you continue to pledge on many rewards until I finish out the Kickstarter phase and shift to fulfillment.
This month’s topic is the peculiar issue of type winding up in bodies of water. I know of three cases (not type cases), in which printing types were hurled into the Thames or the English Channel; a fourth involves a river in France.
(Some of the below about the Doves Type is adapted from my 2018 book, London Kerning, updated with new or better details.)
