Late September Leatherdykes Newsletter
The late September newsletter for Glasgow Leatherdykes
It’s the newsletter! Sorry it’s out a day late (again), I spent the weekend in West Bromwich (again). Anyway, first bit of news before the usual stuff is that we are in the process of typesetting the zine, which with any luck should be out by the October bar night! I’ve spent today replying to everyone who submitted anything, so if you submitted something but haven’t heard back from me yet then please do get in contact via the email. Thanks for your patience on the process here! Been busy busy busy.
Also! We are still soliciting contestants for Ms Bootblack Glasgow. Check out the previous newsletter for details. Also also!! We are still getting ticket details for attendees but that should be available this week. Keep an eye on your inbox for an extra special non-newsletter announcement email.
Anyway, onto the usual stuff!

Leatherdykes Recommend…
Family Abolition: Capitalism and the Communizing of Care, by M.E. O’Brien (Yvette)
If Abolish the Family (by Sophie Lewis) has whet your appetite for something a bit chewier, then M.E. O’Brien has got you covered. This book is at once reasonably accessible while still covering some tough theoretical ground. While there are some suggestions in the final few chapters that I can’t fully get behind (the idea of the commune being run via two hundred person assemblies is broadly terrifying, as someone who has had to facilitate meetings a twentieth the size), the vision of a post-family future is worth exploring, both conceptually and in our own practices as leatherdykes.
Blog
Sorry to miss the bar night earlier this month! While I’m sure licking all y’all’s boots would have fixed my throat right up, I was just too icky sicky to make it there. Thankfully, I recovered in time to make it down to Kinkfest! Shout out to anyone who met me there and has joined the mailing list at my insistence.
Zine-wise, it was really lovely reading all the submissions that were sent in and I’m really excited to show y’all what we’ve got. Have we given you all the porn you’ve requested? No. Not at all. If anything, we might have less than last time. But did we at least try our best? Also no: a one month submissions window is, admittedly, way too short to coordinate photoshoots. Zine #3, that’ll be the porn issue. I’ll chat with Photographer Rowan and hopefully we can sort out something more sensible for the submissions window. But still! I believe in the product, and amidst all the essays there is some hot stuff in there too.
I am also really excited for Ms Bootblack Glasgow. It’s just over 5 weeks away! Do keep an eye out on your inbox. We’ll be limited to 80 tickets just so y’all know.
At any rate, I am exhausted from the travel and I’ve got this backache out of nowhere and still I love you.
With the sense of clarity that comes when you get tired enough that logic itself seems to bend round every thought,
