Gil's Week #202008

This week I…

• Learned about the dot language to draw graphs in ascii art, I also learned about graph-easy and dropped it into a shell script (using Docker because it’s a perl script and I don’t like having to install CPAN on my machines) to try it out, but so far I haven’t used any of them for drawing useful graphs, just to play around. Also found this website which lets you draw ascii art in your browser, it’s the coolest of the options.
• Gave talk about Charles Babbage at work (Watch this video for a summary on this amazing pioneer of computers).
• Gave a talk about being a manager in the Oxford Python meetup, which seemed to go well. My self-review is that I didn’t tell enough stories about myself, and the whole talk was quite quick, I’ll need to prepare myself better for the talk in March.
• Installed the Arch Linux wiki docs so I can read them offline (the package is called arch-wiki-docs) haven’t been useful yet, but it does leave me with a fuzzy feeling that I can just reach for it when I’m on a cafe or a train and need some help.
• Traded my Pinebook Pro with an Intel Nuc, I always wanted to get a NUC and I know that the Pinebook will be much more useful to them than it was to me, still unsure what I’m gonna use the NUC for, but I’m happy.
• Learned more about fzf and helped out on some issues in their Github site.
