The Ghoulish Times | 08.08.24
Hello and welcome to the latest issue of The Ghoulish Times. My name is Max Booth and this is my spooky newsletter. Here are some things:
EVENTS
If you’re local to the Central Texas area, here are the events we have planned for August at our bookstore, Ghoulish Books, in Selma:
For more information about these events, please visit our EVENTS page.
SUBMISSION CALL FOR SPOOKY MANUSCRIPTS
Ghouls, for the first time in years—and probably the last time for the foreseeable future—we have reopened our slush pile to consider full-length horror manuscript submissions. This includes novellas, novels, and story collections. Please visit our GHOULBLOG for further information on how to submit. Deadline is the end of the month.
GHOULGAB W/ JUSTIN LUTZ
Today on the GHOULBLOG, Mindy Rose has a GHOUL GAB with Justin Lutz about music, pus as lube, and insatiable holes. Eavesdrop HERE.
“WHAT HAPPENED WAS IMPOSSIBLE” NOMINATED FOR AWARD
E. F. Schraeder’s What Happened Was Impossible (Ghoulish Books, 2023) has officially been nominated for a Saturday 'Visiter' Award in their “Original Works Inspired by E.A. Poe’s Life and Writing” category. Learn more about the award HERE and buy Impossible HERE. Congrats, E!
“BOUND IN FLESH” STAFF PICK AT POWELL’S
Bound in Flesh: An Anthology of Trans Body Horror is currently a Staff Pick at Powell’s. Several folks have sent me pictured evidence and it’s just the coolest thing. Here’s a pic from Andrew Shaffer I’ll include in the newsletter:
BOOTHBLOG
I’ve started blogging again on my personal site at TalesFromTheBooth. Here are the latest three posts, should that interest you:
08.03 - RETURN OF THE BLOG
08.08 - SLURP MY BRAIN UP LIKE SPAGHETTI
If you read ‘em, let me know what you think. Considering focusing more of my non-creative time there, rather than social media, which consistently depresses me. I think there’s a way to leave comments, too, but you’ll need to create a Wordpress account first?? IDK.
Anyway, I think that’s it. Coming up soon, we’ll be putting badges on sale for next year’s Ghoulish Book Festival. PLUS: Danger Slater’s Starlet is coming out later this month. Please pre-order it if you haven’t already. It’s very fun and gross.
Until then…thank you for being a ghoul.
