What I learned about accessibility from axe-con 2021
I published a post this morning about what I learned from the axe-con accessibility conference this month. I spotlight talks from Sara Soueidan, Mark Steadman, Val Head, and Gerard Cohen and what I took away from each.
I found the conference super valuable even though I was only able to catch a handful of talks. I highly recommend registering for the conference so you can watch recordings of the talks.
What I've been reading
- Accessible Text Labels For All -- Sara took part of her talk from axe-con and made it into a post. It's a great reminder of how you need to consider speech input users when testing accessibility.
- A Complete Guide To Accessible Front-End Components -- Smashing Magazine published a lengthy list of different components and what to consider from an accessibility perspective. I haven't gone through the whole list, but will definitely be referring to this in the future.
- Comparing Svelte and React -- I'm a big fan of Svelte, and this was a great overview of the differences between implementing a project in Svelte as opposed to React.
- React Hooks in Svelte -- in a similar vein, this post shows how you might rewrite React hooks in Svelte. I've been looking for a resource like this.
Until next time,
Geoff
