The Generate Monthly Gazette: Issue 001 (no Generate tonight)

At last! We have an email newsletter.

Much as I miss our hand-knit chain of BCCs, it was getting way too annoying to maintain (for recipeints and senders alike).

First order of business: There is no Generate tonight. Too many holiday schedule anomalies. Enjoy your early 2020! We’re still working on the next date. There’s a chance we’ll arrange a late January meeting, or we may just skip until our usual first Thursday in February.

~~~
If you’re curious, this new email system is powered by TinyLetter: a mostly harmless free email newsletter service run by a company called Mailchimp. Kinda sorta modeled after old-school typewritten newsletter, which is why I like it. It’s free as long as we have fewer than 5,000 subscribers. Lynn’s apartment is fire code certified for up to 4,000 persons so we should be good.
It will make it much easier for us to add new people to the group, as well as for anyone who wants to unsubscribe—we don’t take it personally at all. Plus Lynn & I won’t accidecanlly forget to invite you to a meeting because we forgot your email address. That happens a lot.
If you're receiving this, you're on the list. Most of you have come to at least one Generate meeting. Others of you have not come to one in person but have showed interest so I'm putting on on the inaugural list.
If you want to invite a friend, send them to tinyletter.com/generate. Anyone is welcome.
I (Jacob) can also add people manually if you send me their email address. My personal email is j@cobford.com.
If you want to unsubscribe, there’s a link to do so at the bottom of this email. No offense taken at all.
And lastly, you can reply to any of these emails—it'll go back to Jacob directly (not to the whole group, for better or for worse).
Sincerely always,
Jacob (millennial)
Lynn (boomer)
