The Balanced Truth About GenAI: Debunking Myths & Understanding Limitations
As a firm believer, genAI will support and enhance our daily workflows professionally and personally. But with all the grifters in the field, I feel it is essential to counter these fluff pieces. A significant example of these types of posts is this one on LinkedIn. It claims that the decline in tech jobs is directly related to the coming of AI.
First, there is no attribution to the statical visual he shows. But if you look closely, he cuts off the x-axis, which ends in 2023! This is misleading as in 2024, there is a significant uptick in jobs. He's basically trying to create a narrative that AI is the sole reason for job losses. It is cherry-picking data to fit his pre-determined conclusion. He forgot the old saying, "Correlation doesn't mean causation". Just because two things happen roughly simultaneously doesn't mean one causes the other.
New Blogpost
Yes, stop the press breaking news. Had time to write some more content. As the grifters keep grifting. I'll continue to call them out and offer a balanced perspective on this fascinating technology. The faster we learn the limitations and the actual strong points of genAI, the better equipped we'll be to harness its potential for good.
I found an interesting study around the limitations of language models. Written a small recap on my blogpost and invite you to have read.
Forkit
Made presentation for the Forkit community last week in Da Nang. It was a great mix of expats, local talent and students. The university students were eager to interact and ask insightful questions about genAI and its potential applications. It's inspiring to see such enthusiasm and curiosity, especially among younger generations who are growing up immersed in this technology.
The event was sold out, which speaks volumes about the growing interest in AI within the community. I'm thrilled that Forkit continues to be a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration on such a crucial topic. But Let’s not take all the credit ourselves. The excellent talk of the host Quintin Lerebour, on releasing a side project in production and growing it with the same valuable key insights. Look at his work, you won't be disappointed! Seeing how passion and dedication can lead to tangible results is genuinely inspiring.
I don't have the event video yet, but I'll share it with you all once I do.
Until next week!
