Giveaway next week! [Toschi Recap #04]
Hi, Toschi here, and welcome to newsletter recap #04! Once more, thank you for reading it and following my articles and projects in the web. If you like, why not recommend the blog (or the newsletter) to a friend? The worst that can happen is a person calling me Torchic, and I will love it.
As you have seen in the title, we will have our first game giveaway! The team at Midwest Games was kind enough to send me Steam keys for its last release, The Lullaby of Life, and I’ll be selecting two newsletter subscribers at random next Friday (May 10th) to get a free copy of the game.
Don’t forget to check your inbox then! I’ll send you a e-mail with instructions if you are selected. During the week, I’ll post my review of the game so you can know more about it. Good luck! (if you want more chances, I’ll be selecting more people on Twitter and Bluesky too!)
If you want to talk to me, just reply this email! You can also find me surviving on Twitter or hanging out on Bluesky, Mastodon or Cohost. If you forget to check your inbox, you can also try my Telegram channel or my Steam curator profile. Now for the news!
latest from the blog
The last 2 weeks were busy in the review department! I have nothing more than SIX new reviews for you to read:
Botany Manor (8/10): this escape room meets planting simulator was cozy, interesting and fun to solve. Available on PC and consoles.
stitch. (8/10): I learned how embroidery can be fun with this new logic puzzle that was free from the Apple Arcade purgatory to color the screens of Nintendo Switches.
YOYOZO (8/10): my first Playdate proper review was a blast: one of the best arcade games in the little yellow brick is about a yo-yo collecting stars.
The Scrolling Enigma (7/10): an experimental escape room for the Playdate, this infinite scrolling newspaper is a good idea that’s worth looking at.
Bem Feito (7/10): this gaming mystery made in Brazil almost understand perfectly the power of a creepypasta, but it’s an interesting experience anyways. Available on PC and consoles.
Tell Me Your Story (4/10): this cozy puzzle game became a trial-and-error nightmare that I don’t want to get back to (plus they don’t know where the Amazon is). Available on PC and consoles.
shhh, spoilers
Thanks to Panic, I got access to a lot of Playdate games that are available on the Catalog to talk about! My next cranking review will be about Mars After Midnight, created by Papers, Please and Obra Dinn designer Lucas Pope.
As I already said, I’m finishing The Lullaby of Life and you can expect a review of it before the giveaway closes!
Yes, obviously I’m excited to play Little Kitty, Big City when it hits the Game Pass library next week. And yes, I’ll be doing a review of it, so cat lovers unite!
Doctor Who is getting back next week, and I’m HYPED to see more of Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor. My whovian side will probably do a full season review at the end.
I’ve had no time to create games those past days, but let’s hope this change soon. cries in proletarian

Apparently, if you want to know the best combination of kart and racer on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you should ask an economist. A great (and interactive!) article by Antoine Mayerowitz.
Is someone surprised that the most profitable mobile games out there are just 100% gambling? If you are, Belinda Ercan’s video about Monopoly Go’s bizarre story will convince you.
FPS games are not my jam, but seeing DOOM running on stupid locations is something that make me happy. This is a video of someone rendering DOOM gameplay on Spinda patterns — yes, the Pokémon whose spot patterns are almost infinite.
If you tried to learn Unity in the past years, you know Brackeys. And he is back, now with Godot tutorials. It’s so good to see more support to open-source engines, specially from someone so important to the community.
