Fusion Fragment Monthly - February 2023
The Latest from Fusion Fragment HQ
Fusion Fragment #15 Released! Our very first all-novelette issue was released on January 27th. As always, you can download it for free electronically from the FF website.
There were FFers aplenty on the BSFA Longlist and the Stoker Preliminary Ballot! Vanessa Fogg, Thomas Ha, Jordan Kurella, and Uchechukwu Nwaka each appeared in the Best Short Fiction category of the BSFA Longlist. Christi Nogle appeared in the Superior Achievement in a First Novel category on the Stoker Preliminary Ballot, and again for Superior Achievement in an Anthology. Avra Margariti appeared for Superior Achievement in a Poetry Collection.
I put out a couple of threads looking back at the January reading period. The first thread looked at some reading period stats and the second did a deep dive on reasons for rejection. If you want some insight into what the reading team and I look for in stories that come our way, this is a great place to start!
In the December issue of Locus magazine, Charles Payseur made FF#13 novelette "We'll Always Have Enceladus" by Amy Nagopaleen a recommended story in his monthly review column. The review was posted online last month, and you can read it here.

Recommendations from FF HQ
It's FF playlist time! Putting out an issue of Fusion Fragment involves a lot of late nights spent staring at a computer screen making sure all the apostrophes are stylized correctly and other such fun things. Here are 5 songs that were on repeat throughout the process of putting FF#15 together:
"Boys Life" by Small Black
"Fleez" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"We Killed the Moonlight" by Still Corners
"5th World" by The Last Internationale
"Bloodhands (Oh My Fever)" by In The Valley Below
