Ruby 3.1 news & the Fullstack Ruby Podcast debut
Happy Friday!
Lots of new releases coming up in the Ruby community, from Ruby 3.1 to Rails 7 to Bridgetown 1.0. Lots to talk about! In our previous incarnation as RUBY3.dev, we published a detailed guide to all the new pattern matching & hash destructuring in Ruby 3.0. In Ruby 3.1, there's a new "shorthand hash" syntax which works with keyword arguments as well, thus we've updated our guide so you'll be all set once Ruby 3.1 is released.
We're also pleased to announce the debut (teaser) episode of the Fullstack Ruby Podcast! To kick things off, I spend some time introducing folks to Ruby2JS and explaining why I think this technology is a game changer for frontend development from a Rubyist frame of reference. Stay tuned for future episodes featuring guests from the Ruby community!
Bonus Link: if you've heard me or others mention Bridgetown and you're wondering just what all the fuss is about, Felipe Vogel recently appeared on the Ruby Rogues podcast to talk all about his experience building a website with Bridgetown, as well as the joys and challenges of learning Rails for the first time. A must listen!
Thanks for being a part of the Fullstack Ruby community. With all the new stuff coming out now and in the near future as we head into 2022, you're gonna see some serious shit. ⚡️😆
