A fresh political dispute has emerged between the VLEN coalition and BDI following an indictment concerning a lottery. This comes as political parties continue to clash over responsibility for the lingering water crisis in Gostivar. Meanwhile, Skopje's Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski publicly consumed tap water to allay public fears about its safety, while the opposition Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) called for comprehensive nationwide drinking water analyses.
The country is also grappling with ongoing wildfires, though the large blaze in Loznani has been localized, partly thanks to the courageous intervention of a local resident who drove his tractor into the fire. However, six fires remain active across North Macedonia, with authorities suspecting arson in the Bitola region. In other domestic news, the opposition criticized the government's delayed response to the West Nile virus epidemic, and the director of the public enterprise 'Lajka' announced a plan to eradicate stray dogs in Skopje within 1.5 years.
On a positive note, young Macedonian programmers achieved global recognition by winning three medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics. However, a tragic incident saw a 19-year-old girl die after being hit by a car driven by an intoxicated individual, and new concerns were raised regarding accelerating population aging due to emigration.
