Here’s something that makes me happy: finding little "life hacks" that set me up for success or propel me a goal.
I had started using a helpful little habit app right before the pandemic started, but quickly fell out of the habit on Day 2 of we-are-all-staying-home-all-the-time-forever-and-ever. (Remember those days?!) At that time all the "good habits" that I wanted to develop basically went out the window at least for a season.
One of my Instagram friends recently inspired me to dust off this helpful little app, give it a little update, and put it back in daily rotation.
The app I'm talking about is called Streaks. Maybe you've heard of it?
Streaks is the to-do list that helps you form good habits. Every day on which you complete a task, your streak is extended. Their tagline, not mine.
I have six habits that I am working on forming, and Streaks is helping me track my daily success. While I typically love a good paper and pen checklist, the ability to track habits on my phone (or on my Apple Watch) is exceptionally handy. I need a reminder to use my checklist, so I have allowed Streaks to send me push notifications. It's handy to have no matter where I am.
I realize that habit tracking isn't super fun for everyone, but I think Streaks has made it a little more enjoyable by allowing you to select fun icons and letting you pick your color scheme. (It's the little things these days, right?)
Here are the current habits that I'm tracking. Some I have set to do four times a day, some just once. You can also set a habit to be done a set number of times per week. Handy!
Streaks is available for in the Apple Store for iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac
Having safe, effective products for my children is one of my biggest goals.
I love that I do not have to run out to the store in the middle of the night when a child wakes up suddenly with a stomach ache. I love having oils on hand in my home so that I can help right away when they have a stuffy nose, or can't sleep, or are worried, or are in the middle of the world's largest temper tantrum. I love knowing that what is going on my kid's skin is safe and not full of questionable ingredients.
Young Living offers the KidScents line, a line formulated specifically for children. The oil blends in this line are pre-diluted for ages 2+ which makes them incredibly easy to use.
Best of all - this handy little set of oils is on sale now through tomorrow night!
You can shop the sale right here. (I put a few more handy things for kids in this cart, just select what you want to order and leave the rest.) If you are a new Young Living customer, I have a 10% off coupon for you to use! Just reply to this email to claim it.
I finished this book over the weekend. I have seen this book countless times over the past few years and have always passed it by (not even reading the jacket cover) because I was judging it based on its cover (something I always tell my kids not to do. Oops.) Based on the cover I incorrectly assumed it was realistic fiction. It’s not! It’s historical fiction and is excellent! I give it 4.5 stars and highly recommend.Have you read her other book, The Secret Life of Bees? I think I had picked it up at one time but had never started reading it. If you’ve read it, was it good?
Thanks for reading! What's something handy that has been working well for you recently? I would love to hear about it! (When you hit reply, your message goes directly to my email. It’s a private conversation between just us.) I read all your messages and try to respond, but not always in a timely manner. Sorry! And if you enjoyed this email, you’d be doing me a favor by forwarding it to someone else who might like it.
