Issue #24 - So... What's new?
Recapping Whitecaps FC's season despite injuries, the potential loss of Brian White, and touching on Seattle Sounders' Leagues Cup win.
Hello!
With the Whitecaps FC out of action since the last newsletter, and remaining that way until after the next, it’s got me wondering what I’ll do during the offseason.
Got any suggestions?
I’m currently leaning to a monthly cadence, with anything with significant vibes during the in-between getting a bonus issue. Might that work?
And a big thank you to Angela who dropped me a reply to the last issue. Remember, you can reply to any newsletter that arrives with your thoughts, questions, posers, or proclamations!

The View
The Whitecaps FC currently sit third in the Western Conference, and seventh overall on the League Table.
Not to shabby considering they’ve done this with with Ryan Guald and Sam Adekugbe out for much of the season with significant injuries. Or when you consider others - Ali Ahmed & Ranko Veselinovic just to name two - who’ve missed varying amounts of time due to injury. And the countless others who continue to get called up for international duty.
I cannot fathom how anyone could describe the current result as anything other than miraculous.
But I do worry the soccer Gods are finally pushing this squad to its limit.
If you hadn’t already heard, the injury Brian White picked up before this extended break was significant enough to keep him international duty with the US. And as per Har, it sounds like it will also cost him some serious time with Vancouver too:

The obvious solution is to slide Daniel Rios in as a replacement. And I imagine that’s what Jesper will likely do. Yet do you honestly believe Rios has it in him to find his foot and generate a goal or two?
I suppose that’s unfair.
He does have it in him. But do you think he’s able to find wherever he’s stashed that potential in the few weeks he’ll get (if that)?
And if he doesn’t, what’s Plan B (or at this point is it Plan Z)? An out-of-position Emmanuel Sabbi filling White’s shoes? Or is it Kenji Cabrera time as striker?
I guess we wait to find out.
Around the Pitch
It pains me to say this, but congratulations are in order to the Seattle Sounders for winning the Leagues Cup over Inter Miami.
Though I honestly wasn’t paying attention to the mid-season tournament whatsoever, considering the Whitecaps FC weren’t involved, so the fact I knew the Sounders won has everything to do with Luis Suarez.
Why Suarez?
Well, apparently the guy’s decided biting is too up-close-and-personal and has decided spitting is the way to lose the plot.
I know Leagues Cup play is not MLS action, but he has to get some form of supplemental discipline here… right?!
Have you made it this far? If so, drop me a line.
Or not. That’s okay too. 😆
