The Navy’s Bahrain plan now begins with a question smaller than strategy: how sailors can get their belongings back.
At Monday’s worldwide town hall, a sailor asked about household goods left behind after Iran struck Naval Support Activity Bahrain on February 28. Adm. Daryl Caudle answered plainly: “We’re not getting back in there anytime soon.” Six months later, the Navy’s top officer is describing a plan to retrieve those possessions as a “scheme of maneuver.”
The operational map changed with the locks. Navy Times reports that logistics shifted to Diego Garcia, more than 2,000 miles from carrier forces in the region. One littoral combat ship sailor said food orders had to be placed 30 days ahead—a lead time imposed on operations whose schedule could change overnight.
The Pentagon’s first public measure was continuity: no fatalities at the base, no significant effect on military operations. Continuity records whether ships keep moving. It doesn’t record the distance, lead time and improvisation consumed to keep them there.
The ships stayed on station.
The next pour comes from Diego Garcia.
Iranian state broadcaster IRIB says a US strike hit the airport at Jiroft, in Kerman province, well back from the water the campaign has fought over; explosions were also reported near Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Konarak. None of it has been independently verified. Trump said the strikes answer Iranian attacks and warned there would be “very little left of the Islamic Republic” if Tehran hits back, while the Revolutionary Guard promised “severe punishment.” The same morning, Iran’s president told the SCO summit he’d act reciprocally if Washington returned to the June memorandum, and Qatar asked both sides to go back to talking.

The Dow and the S&P 500 were each down about 0.42% at midday and the Nasdaq 0.69%, driven less by the war than by a global bond sell-off: Japan’s 10-year briefly reached 3% for the first time in 30 years, and the US 30-year hasn’t sat this high this long since 2006.
